A Unique Homestead Learning Experience

Homestead Program @ The Spicewood Homestead

Set against the backdrop of a vibrant homestead, our camp is a hands-on journey into the essentials of sustainable living.

Using curriculum influenced by Wilderness Awareness Schools, Waldorf & Montessori Education, and the Garden-Based Learning Movement, we teach nature, gardening & regenerative homesteading skills on our organic, regenerative, permaculture, biodynamic veggie & medicinal herb garden.

Participants will dive into the heart of homesteading, engaging in activities like fermenting, gardening, and nature walks. They'll learn the art of sewing, caring for chickens and small animals, and delve into the traditional practices of making sourdough starter, bread, herbal medicines, and cooking from scratch. Our young homesteaders will also have the opportunity to create butter, cheese, and more, embracing the full cycle of food from soil to table. The Homestead Adventure Camp is about more than just activities; it's about cultivating a connection to the land, understanding the value of self-sufficiency, and appreciating the simplicity of living closely with nature. Through practical skills such as fire building, natural navigation, and creating with natural fibers, campers will discover their ability to navigate and contribute to the world around them.
